The Global Proteinase K Market Continues To Grow Owing To the Incidence Rate of Chronic Diseases All Over the World and the Increase of the Geriatric Population
Proteinase
K is a serine protease that is used to digest proteins in various stages of the
protein processing cycle. In molecular biology laboratory, using Proteinase K
to break down nucleic acids in different reactions activates proteases which
can degrade nucleic acid molecules during isolation and purification processes.
It is primarily used as a dynamic DNA binding agent that affects DNA binding to
polypeptides. It is capable of disrupting the base pairing of complementary
strands for immobilization of sequences of DNA and RNA molecules during
sequencing procedures.
The
Serine Peptide Homologs family in the bacterial artificial transcription system
of DNA and RNA is an important factor that affects proteinase of enzyme
activity. It is found that the level of SPH present in the pool of nucleated
DNA affects the base pairing of complementary strands. The results of many
recent studies show that the level of SPH present in pooled DNA samples can be
influenced by different factors. These factors may include temperature, pH
level, and metal ion concentration. The measurement of Proteinase K enzyme activity
was then used to study DNA base pairing.
The
rapid increase of chronic diseases is the main factor that is driving the
growth of the global proteinase K market. For instance, according to the Alzheimer's
Association, in 2018 approximately 5.7 million individuals in the United States
were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, the proteinase K offers
various benefits such as good product specificity, stability, and low
production cost, which is also boosting the growth of the global proteinase K
market. Proteinase K has a broad spectrum of protease and around 10 folds more
active during the denatured protein.
Using
the tandem mass Spectrometry method, researchers detected the amount of
S-phenylalanine that was present in the nucleic acids of biological samples.
The concentration was found to be dependent upon the temperature, arginine
concentration, and the degree of glycosylation of DNA or RN molecules. The
results of this study showed that the maximum S-phenylalanine was located near
the center of the ribosome. The study also revealed that at low temperatures,
the most active region of the enzyme is found at the front of the helix. Based
on these results, it was concluded that the active site of the proteinase K is
situated near the position of the helix as seen in terms of structure. However,
the availability of other types of proteases is the main factor that is
hindering the growth of the global proteinase K market.
Owing
to the increase of chronic diseases in the region, North America is
experiencing high demand in the global proteinase K market. For instance,
according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2020 there were
around 5.8 million American individuals, aged 65 years or older were diagnosed
with Alzheimer's disease. And the number is estimated to get triple to 14
million by the year 2060. Owing to such factors, there have been some key
developments in the global proteinase K market. For instance, in May 2019,
Monarch Genomic DNA Purification Kit was intrigued by New England Biolabs.
