  Light or low-calorie food often doesn't deliver all that they claim. Just because they're low calorie doesn't mean they're necessarily healthier; they can still contain several key substitutes. And as far as long-term weight control goes, recent long-term studies have shown that highly processed, high-calorie diet foods contribute very little, if any, to long-term weight control. Instead, the real culprit has processed foods themselves, not the seemingly magical low-calorie alternatives they contain. One of the keys to getting the right nutrients is to avoid the highly processed, pre-packaged varieties. Many "low carb" versions are very high in empty calories such as sugar and fake carbohydrates such as sucrose, which are useless sources of nutrition.
