WACKER launched New Polymeric Binders Based on Renewable Sources to cater to growing demand from water-based coating binders market
Governments
across developing countries are aiming at regulating the volatile organic
compounds by reducing the level companies emit at a certain time period. This
is compelling companies to use water-based coating technology to lower VOC
level because of water-based coating has no or fewer solvents, there fueling
growth of the water-based coating binders market. The water-based coatings are
widely used for direct-to-metal (DTM) applications. Moreover, they are low-cost
and have a self-charring capacity which is again driving its demand across
various end-user industries. Advancement in coating technology is again
anticipated to augment the growth of the market. For instance, Archroma, a
global provider of color and specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions,
has launched Appretan® NTR, a break-through water-based textile coating binder
based on renewable natural ingredients.
1. In March 2019, WACKER launched New Polymeric Binders
Based on Renewable Sources. The products are partly made with starch or bio-acetic
acid, provide enhanced solutions
2. In March 2019, Birla Carbon, a manufacturer, and
supplier of carbon black solutions has added a new product to its family of
Raven carbon black products. The new solution, Raven 5100 Ultra, enable
customers to achieve unseen jetness levels in waterborne systems, superior
performance, and improved formulation costs
3. In April 2021, Stahl, an active proponent of
responsible chemistry, has launched a new range of renewable carbon-based
polyurethanes. Called NuVera®, they replace petroleum-based chemicals with
renewable alternatives, enabling manufacturers of fashion, footwear and
upholstery, and many other consumer products to significantly reduce their
environmental footprint.
The
Asia Pacific is expected to hold the dominant position in the global water-based
coating binders market due to expanding automotive industry in the
region. Due to the increasing production of the vehicle. According to the India
Brand Equity Foundation, domestic automobile production increased at 2.36% CAGR
between FY16-20 with 26.36 million vehicles being manufactured in the country
in FY20. Overall, domestic automobile sales increased at 1.29% CAGR between
FY16-FY20 with 21.55 million vehicles being sold in FY20.
The
water-based coating binders industry is expected to see serious growth over the
next year, owing to the trend of more industries towards green living. This
industry has already seen an upsurge in start-ups as industries realize the
need to reduce their exposure to toxins and chemicals. For many years now,
concrete and reinforced concrete have been the most common forms used for
exterior and interior building constructions. However, in the last few years,
the number of residential and commercial structures being built that are made of
concrete has been on the rise. Also, there is a trend of builders and
contractors using water-based coating binders and finishes in order to avoid
the harsh staining effects of oil-based products.
