Energy Efficient Material Market; Growing with Increasing Consumption of Energy
Energy efficient materials are now being used by more people
around the world for their home, office, or other building structures. These
materials are designed to make homes and other buildings strong and more
durable. Today, builders or designers choose a vast range of energy efficient
materials to build buildings that combine interior comfort with low energy
coasts and low environmental impact. Thus, the demand for energy efficient
materials is increasing with the increasing need for reducing energy costs and
conserving the environment.
Increasing consumption of energy worldwide for various
electrical appliances has increased the demand for energy efficient materials
in building construction. Moreover, the energy
efficient material market is growing with the rapid growth of the power
sector due to the increasing power consumption worldwide. For instance,
according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), total U.S. energy
consumption was equal to about 100.2 quadrillion Btu or about
100,165,395,000,000,000 Btu in 2019. The electric power sector accounted for
about 96% of total U.S. utility-scale electricity generation.
These materials are used for thermal insulation of buildings,
as a result, the demand for energy efficient materials is increasing. It is the
most effective and efficient way to improve energy use and efficiency in a
building. Insulation of windows, efficient lighting system, and thermal
insulation are some important materials necessary for energy saving. Energy
efficient materials are able to withstand all weather conditions. These
materials are light in weight and mainly composed of polyisocyanurate, expanded
polystyrene, cellulose, mineral wool, and fiberglass. These are the major
factors which may drive the energy efficient material market growth.
Moreover, increasing awareness of energy efficiency and sustainable
living and government initiatives in Asian and European countries, such as
India and Romania, for energy efficient materials are attributed to a major
market share in the energy efficient material market in the Asia Pacific
region. For instance, in 2019, the Government of India launched the Energy
Conservation Building Code (ECBC) for the residential sector to boost
energy-efficiency. In September 2020, the Ministry of Environment (Romania)
launched the Energy-Efficient House financing program to reduce the energy
consumption and reduce the level of greenhouse gas emissions in the country.
The four main aspects for energy efficiency in a building
include zero energy passive building design, use of low energy building
materials, use of low operational energy equipment, and the integration of
renewable energy technologies. Thus, the energy efficient material market is
witnessing significant growth due to increasing energy consumption worldwide in
the building and construction industry.
