Increasing number of surgeries is predominantly escalating the growth of the patient temperature management systems market

Patient Temperature Management Systems Market

Patient temperature management systems provide effective and efficient temperature management. This is important to not only keep the patients comfortable but also to save time, resources, and money. The introduction of temperature sensors into the facility has made all the difference in the world for temperature monitoring. These systems allow the doctor to take the temperature of the patient before they begin their procedure and even throughout the procedure if necessary.

A growing number of surgeries around the globe is one of the prominent factors fueling the growth of the patient temperature management systems market. The use of such systems helps in minimizing pre-and post-surgical complications to the patient. Moreover, the growing prevalence of cardiovascular devices is driving demand for warming and cooling devices. This is again propelling the growth of the patient temperature management systems market. According to the World Health Organization, CVDs are the number 1 cause of death globally: more people die annually from CVDs than from any other cause. Over three-quarters of CVD deaths take place in low- and middle-income countries.

North America is projected to gain significant growth over the forecast period and this is attributed to the high number of surgeries performed in the region. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2019, minimally invasive cosmetic procedures grew at a slightly higher rate than surgical procedures, and the total number of procedures increased for the third year in a row. Among the 16.3 million cosmetics minimally invasive procedure performed in 2019, up 2 percent compared to 2018 data, the top 5 were: Botulinum toxin type A (7.69 million procedures), Chemical peel (1.38 million procedures), Laser hair removal (1.0 million procedures), Soft tissue fillers (2.72 million procedures), and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment (685,755 procedures).

Key Developments:

1.      In October 2020, Gentherm a global developer of innovative thermal management technologies announced that it has obtained 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and has launched the ASTOPADTM Patient Warming System in the United States

2.      In January 2017, Stryker announced the launch of Altrix™, a next-generation precision temperature management system that can be used in all clinical settings

3.      In March 2019, Smiths Medical, a global medical device manufacturer launched the Level 1® convective warmer. This next-generation high-flow convective warmer gives health care providers a quiet, simple, and safe thermal care solution to help patients maintain normal body temperature through every stage of surgery
